Howdy guys and gals!
I used to frequent this site quite a bit a few years back (mostly in the FE forum)
About a month ago I bought a 2003 F350 V-10 and I absolutely love it!!!!!
So I figured I'd come vist and see what y'all think about these bad a$$ V-10's.
I've made a few mods already, but the truck is really close to stock with only 30k miles. I put the ebay y-pipe in (love it) and I've done some experimenting on the cat (going back to stock there for sure), the other things have all been cosmetic. A JBA stainless cat-back system is on the way, but I need to get my cat issues figured out before i screw that up more.
its got 285 toyos that are getting balanced and rotated today. its a FX4 extended cab short bed and it is the most gorgeous blue i ever did see! hahaha... dont even say your truck is prettier! oh and it may possibly get leveled sometime in the future.
MPG is 12.9 - 14.9 depending on how much i test the exhaust issues lol!
I did the same as you...went from my 390FE to my modular V10. The FE series is still my all time favorite (history and easy to work on), but the V10 with its 310hp and 425 ft/lbs of torque in an all OEM setup is fantastic. Then wrap the SD around...and we've got one heck of a truck!
Glad to see another happy eBay y-pipe mod! My Dad had his installed over a year ago...and still loving it. Of course...his SD is a 2001 F250 CC 4x4 5.4L Auto. But helped mpg...and throttle response is tops. The 5.4L now is able to stretch its legs.
Keep us informed with your JBA stainless cat-back system when installed.
OK boys!!! here is the scoop......
The JBA system is awesome! inside it looks like a glasspack, only "swirled" it is low and growly..... a bit too loud for my liking without a cat in front of it...... so on advice from a friend I put a 30" glass pack in front of the muffler, backwards! Yup! I said backwards!
And too my amazement! It sounds great! the flutter is almost completely gone and it actually sounds like a truck now!
lets see.......... what shall i do to it next...........
a cell phone works pretty good, although the sound quality might not be there. If you can use a digital camera to video tape it that works too. I think pretty much any sound clip you can save (or convert) to a wav file. I'd try it with your phone just to see how that works .
I have a few questions. JBA?? Never heard of them, but according to their site it sounds amazing in a 65 Mustang? I am looking for that kinda of sound out of my truck. Would you guys recommend it over other exhausts? I was thinking about a Flowmaster either 40 or 70 series, not sure which. How does JBA compare in price to the other brands? (Hope it's alright to ask that in here) Is it an easy installation? If so, how does it compare in durability? Finally, I'm curious as to what the ebay y-pipe mode is?? I know I could do a search for the mod, but its late and I'm feeling lazy right now, what can I say??
Ok so that was more than a few, I just new to the truck modification aspect of things and curious.
P.S. I may be new to the forums as well, but Welcome Back chissler.

The FM70 gets the V10 to almost that stock OEM sound. The 40 will be louder.
The Y-pipe mod is about replacing the current '99-'04 restrictive setup with a free flowing setup. A guy on eBay makes and sells them, but you can buy a y-pipe from FM, etc...but they are not specific to the SD like the eBay version.
Thanks for the knowledge and info guys. I too am now curious as to what the JBA system sounds like on the V10. Any word on how the sound clips are coming???
