Engine Swap

Does anyone know if a 300 inline 6 from a 1986 will bolt to a stock 3 speed trans in a 1959 F-100? The 300 was bolted to a 4 speed with OD. Will the new bellhousing bolt to the old 3 speed or will the old bellhousing from the 223 inline bolt to the new 300?

Will not! The 300 uses the six-bolt small-block V-8 bellhousing bolt pattern introduced in 1966.

i would put the 3speed with overdrive in. i have one with 120,000+ miles on it and it keeps going. it is nice to have the overdrive to drop rpm's, reducing noise and wear. you also increase mileage.
the other thing to consider is putting an aautomatic tranny in. i had a 54 f100 with 69 351/c6 auto and it was great to drive.
