lights HELP!

i just wired a set of fog lights and mounted them on my receiver hitch

i wired the power into the cigar lighter in my 99 F250 Superduty

i do not think these lights are putting out as much light as they could be

do i not have enough power going to them or is that as bright as they get?

thanks
nic

If you paid less than $50 for the lights, it's probably all it can do. But, nothing but a cell phone charger or a radar detector should be using your cigarette lighter plug.

The lights SHOULD be wired through a relay, direct from a fused line off of the battery using something like #16 wire or larger.

First, you could check to see if a larger wire would help by using a jumper cable from your battery to the + positive wire of the lights.

I looked at some aux lights the other day at Advanced Auto and all of them were 55 watts. I had 55 watt driving lights on the front of my RV, and I couldn't tell when they were off or on, even with the headlights off in the dark! Looking from the front they seemed bright, but just were too small to do much of anything. Most driving/fog lights on the market are just for show.

if you have the tow package the back up lights
should have a hot wire in the harness that will power
the lights off a relay in the engine compartment
