Looking for Better Performance

I own a 92 full size Bronco with about 100K miles. It has the 351 engine with a automatic transmission (over drive). I have owned the truck since it was new and have kept it stock. My mileage is an average of 10.5 MPG around town and about the same on the highway (it use to be a lot better). I feel that the gas/peddle response is not what it should be. I would really like to improve the gas mileage and performance(acceleration response). There are a lot of ideas out there about computer chips, ignition systems, side gapping spark plugs, exhaust systems, and K&N filters. I am looking for specific improvement examples and suggestion.

Thanks,

JamesM

James, before going crazy bolting on aftermarket performance parts I would start with tune up related parts. 100k miles is alot for any ignition part that may be O.E.. Start with new cap, rotor, wires, plugs, pcv, air and fuel filters. Do a compression check on all cylinders while the plugs are out. Check the timing, and fuel pressure. Also check to see if the exhaust is free flowing and doesn't have any partial clogs. If your check engine lite comes on(or is on) find out why. All of these items will affect your trucks performance, and can hinder it from performing like it did when it was new.
