Kewl thanks for the info I am in the process of rebuilding my 302, the bad one is the on i am takeing out and I have the other one which has the good crank in it on the stand so ill finish putting it together. Question if you wouldn't mind me asking another is on the connecting rods do I just drive the Connecting pins oot with a wooden dowl or is there a specific way to remove them??
Don't mess with the pins. You have to get a machine shop to
press these out and put your new pistons on. They heat and
have a fixture to install the new pistons correctly. Get your
crank miked at the shop too. You got to have these guys
working with you if you want to do it right. They usually
are happy to check stuff for you.
excellent advice from franklin2. get the crank miked to check for out of round or flat spots. you don,t want to spend money and spend it again. also consider buying a crank kit. it will be machined and come with matching size bearings.
