Pinging
I have a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer with the 4.0 SOHC engine in it.
It's developed a serious ping.
Pulled a couple of spark plugs out and found they had a .073 gap instead of the .052 to 055 recommended.
Could this cause the problem or should I replace the knock sensor as well.
Have no way of reading any codes.
