Drive Selector hard to shift

Drive Selector hard to shift
I was wondering if any one else is having this problem and if ther is an easy fis to it.
Ever since i bout my truck the drive selctor is very hard to move and is really loose (when it says its in drive its really in neutral).
Well it is slowly getting worse, i was stuck at a job site teh other day for 10 minutes because it would not come out of park, finally i got it but it is still really hard to select gears. I know one of these days my girlfiren is goign to have to drive it and she or any one else that drives it will have a hell of a time figuring it out.
any suggestions?
