Does anyone have idea what is with it check engine light keep poping on and off, oil pressure is fine, engine cool normal, battery is normal, everything runs like champ but the checkengine light keeps popping on and off. It is 4.9L, 300-6, '95 f 150. I have water pump and tuned up with platinum plugs done in Dec '06 and the problem is since then. Everything runs like champ. Any idea?
Some auto parts stores, like Auto Zone or Advanced, will scan it for free. You can also buy a 20 dollar scan tool or use the 'ol DIY method: http://www.fordfuelinjection.com/?p=13
Also is the engine supposed to get hot real quick like temp gauge going up if you use AC (turned to 2) and the truck is not moving but let say idling at parking lot or busy intersection for like 4-5 min? Once truck start moving the temp gauge start coming down...it only happens every time we at 88-93 degree day time driving, if the AC is not on, the temp gauge never goes up, it is like solid on the cold side. Thanks
It's normal for the engine to run a little warmer in the summer time, especially when it's idling and the A/C is on. The condenser is mounted next to the radiator so the radiator is going to soak up some of that when you're not moving.
