A motor set up for maximum power only will eat itself
up under a heavy long pull in the real world hence a
conservative setup on a dyno unless your running a wide band
F/A ratio gauge with many hours of street testing.
On a mildly built 390, stock or performer intake, 700-750 cfm carb, stock heads, mild cam and headers, basic build is it worth the expense/time of an aftermarket or ds2 ignition? Will the stock dizzy with a petronix or simmilar be enough? Thanks, Matt.

Well PerfDist, if ya'lls unit wasn't 400 smackers I'd take it but for $400 I still don't know what I'm gettin. Like the other guys say, usin a Sun machine don't really mean squat. Ya'll aren't the ones puttin the dizzy in and drivin it to see that it performs at max w/o eatin itself. I can buy alot of weights,springs heck even yard dizzys for parts for $400 and I've already got a good electronic ignition on hand. This is where alot of guys get screwed. I'm at the stage where I'm not confident enough to "curve" my dizzy and know that its maxed out and stable. So most guys at my stage take ya'lls dizzys b/c "they're the best" and thats that. Man this all sounds really negative but I don't mean it in such a way as most written forums can take things wrong. I'm simply saying there's no proof what we're gettin is the best for "My" engine. I'm sure your product is good and dependable but this is a hard product to sell as "the best" for my engine when ya'll aren't the ones installing it and seeing/feeling the end result. Again I'm not slammin ya'lls company at all. This is just merely the reason I'm hesitant at buying such a product. If ya'll had a 30day money back dealio going for ya or something I'd be much more happy to give it a whirl. By the way, ya'll don't have anything like that running right now do you?

You're exactly right-the aftermarket curve kits leave it up to you to go through trial & error, and they still don't maximize your advance curve.
We find out what you have for a cam, compression ratio, weight of your vehicle, type of gas you run, etc., then we calibrate your curve based on that information. The curves we determine are based on a lot of prior testing and experience.
By the way, each distributor is assigned an individual number. That way, in the future if you want to change cams, pistons or something, you can call us with your ID no., we will pull your file and discuss with you whether or not you need to change your advance curve.

That statements a bunch of hogwash about, "they still don't maximize your advance curve".
This is where, "it up to you to go through trial & error", that is true should you know what your doing in respect to what your motors specific advance requirement curve is plus the total advance plus the starting inital advance.
Should you not understand how to do any of this it becomes a big money making profit from companies like this who offer their high dollar units.
What you don't know can be a simple low dollar fix but they will not tell you that until after you find out they have your hard earned $400 when only testing and adjusting on your part you could of corrected your dizzy problem.
It means nothing to me if they are a sponsor to this forum.
