I have a 89 Ford F-150 with a 5.8L engine. My problem is after it gets warmed up a i have driven it a little while, if i push in the clutch while going down the road to coast or to come to a stop the truck will idle down real low then stall out. It doesn't happen all the time but most of the time it does. Sometimes it will idle down real low and not stall out but usually it stalls. Any help with this problem would be very appreciated.
The TPS can also cause this problem. I had one give out on an Escort (I know, different animal entirely, but it happens) and it drove me NUTS until I replaced it. Do clean the IAC, though, too, because you will probably find that it's pretty dirty. While you're at it, it might not hurt to clean the throttle body. I've always noticed a big difference when I do that to a vehicle that hasn't had it done.
Hmmm ... didn't know that. I've had several cars that responded better after a cleaning. In fact, one of mine, a '94 Plymouth Grand Voyager, had a TSB that recommended cleaning the TB to cure a stalling problem at idle. But it had that Mitsubishi 3.0 V6 boat anchor, which might have been a decent engine if they had actually been able to fix its oil burning, oil leaking and carbon problems. But that's neither here nor there ...
