Temperature gauge

Just bought a 97 F250 with 460 engine. Love the power, but man that fuel gauge needle sure does move fast :-).

I'm wondering if I have a bad temperature gauge or sensor. The gauge needle looks like it moves up slightly, but it never gets into the "Normal" range even after a lenghty drive (80+ miles). Any comments?

Temperature gauge

I have a 98 F150 with the same problem. (Plus i have a grill insert that does not let any air in). The gauge does not move too far up the line. If you find any thing out let me know please. johnjr18(No Email Addresses In Posts!)

Thanks

Have you tried replacing the thermostat?

Have you tried checking the actual temperature?

Could be a thermostat stuck open or could be a faulty sender/guage.

Only the external reading will tell you for certain.

I go out and get an AutoMeter guage. I hate stock guages! No matter what I do in my truck...wheather towing in 90* weather, or on the highway at -10 below....the temperature guage always stays in the same spot.
