Missouri friends of mine have opened a winery, and want to adopt my 51F1 , fresh 302&C4, as their "local delivery" vehicle, so I'm looking for advice on shipping it from Sacramento, CA to central Missouri (Jefferson City, the capital), 1900 miles. It isn't show quality, but pretty nice. Can anyone recommend a good reputable shipper? I'd drive it, but it has the original Dana 44 4:11(?) which gives me 2800 rpm at 60 MPH, gets monotonous after a couple hundred miles.
I've seen some automotive shippers posting on craigslist.com about half empty loads they have going through my area and such. You might check into that.
I have heard you better have full insurance. They leave your truck or car at a shipping lot and you dont know if the lot has security or even a fence. There was a guy had his droppe doff and the tire went flat and battery dead then they charged him to have all that fixed by a mechanic.
You could have it backed into and then have to fight to get insurance claims. I would make a trip and either trailer it or drive it.
I know thats not what you wanted to hear but customer service is no more.
My friend purchases several vehicles on ebay which are out of state vehicles. He goes through U haul Rentals. They rent car carriers/ trailers and the price is fairly reasonable. Not to mention its only one way. You leave the car carrier in Missouri when your done. Good luck.
