ok i have a 1982 f-150 w a 351C with 385hp... i know by changing gears and other things.. lightweight suspension and stuff you can really make one of these things perform... the engine in this truck has about 55000 miles on it, so i'm not wanting to do anything radical with it, soon as i find myself a job i was planing on doing some more mods, putting an efi unit on it *i'm tired of fooling with carburators* and i was gonna up the ignition and put in a chip.. is there anything else anyone can recommend.. i would post the dyno sheet on this thing but my brother lost it at the time with bad plug wires, bad distributor cap and rotor, and being about 2 notches out of time it had 385 hp... i've corrected all these problems... and im guessing it should have at least increased 10 hp maybe more.. so like i said any recommendations *i can't go very far since i'm borederline broke* or things i've forgotten lemme know
Okay, you have a 351c that dynoed at 385hp with bad plug wires, a bad distributor cap and rotor, and being about 2 notches out of time!? I am incredibly curious to hear how you purpordedly achieved this.
If your knuckles ain't bleeding you did something wrong.

don't ask me thats my brother... he had the motor before i did... i would show the dyno test sheet, but unfortunately that got lost with time.. people probably won't belive this.. i doubted it myself till i looked at the dyno sheet and peeked under the hood...
hehe.. good point unfortunately no, that was a night at the drag races.. and that day at the shop where he works... dyno.. right there.. couldn't resist
well, first off, nobody to my knowledge makes a kit for the 351c for fuel injection, and since they didnt leave the factory with fuel injection, you'd be hard pressed to use factory hardware. the best alternative in my opinion would be to go with a holley pro-jection unit. looks like a 4 barrel carb, but it resembles the old throttle body injection units. they come in up to 950 cfm, and the 4di setup is completely reprogrammable for your needs. as for ignition, i personally prefer msd, but there are alot of choices out there, so you'll have to pick the one thats right for you. hope this helps,
mike
well, you are right, but i don't know how and my brother may be lying but his 88 gt special edition mustang has a 351 in it, with fuel injection, he may have a 302 and just doesn't want to admit it because he never lets anyone look under his hood, boy i wish i had that car.. super fast in this case is a lame adjective for this ride
An '88 Mustang would not have a 351C in it. It would have a 351W.
Are you sure that your '82 has a 351C in it -not a "W" or an "M"?
Whats the difference? I am not going to get too deep into it, but the Cleveland and Modified (C and M) were not used after the early 80's. I personally thought that the C was discontinued in the late 70's, but I may be wrong. In other words, to make a long story short, the '88 Mustang has a 351 Windsor in it, and Windsors DID come from the factory with EFI (my '95 has the 5.8 (351) with EFI, for example...)
Well it is a 351W, finally got him to come off the story when i found the parts list tucked away in his glove box, hes gonna give me the efi unit from her, cuz he put a 4bbl on it a few months back... hope this comes out right

I've been watching this BS thread for a while now and have bit my tongue till its bled! I can't stand it anymore!!! No '79-'94 Mustangs came with 351 ANYTHING. There was ONE exception in '95, the '95 Cobra R had a 351. There were like 300 total made. '96 and up went to the mod motors. Hasn't been a 351 in a Mustang, EFI or otherwise, since '73.
OMG!! Finding a parts list in a glove box told him it was a 351 W!!!I can't speak civillydoes that mean?????? 385 HP in a truck with bad wires and dist. and rotor.......Gimme a break. New Lightnings are "only" 340ish HP. Run one of those and come back and tell us how much fantasy power you have.
I really hate to say this, but lvstang is right. Desperado, no offense but your brother is really full of it if he's telling you he has a 351 anything in his 88 mustang unless it's a transplant.

LOL!!!! We can't disagree on EVERYTHING....Can we?????
ah no pain no gain, anyway, it is a transplant, he put the 351 in a few months after he got it, anyway... sorry to annoy anyone with this... and sorry for even opening my mouth without evidence to prove it...
