My 99 Econoline has an auxillary battery. The owner's manual says very little about how to access it, for example, running 12v equipment off it when camping, etc. The aux. battery is connected to the van's 7 spade bargman electrical plug (tow package) but when I put electrical test on connection to plug, it shows no juice. Help, please!
I came across a problem were the isolater relay under the hood battery quit working so I just bypassed the relay. Don't really need that one anyways.
This is in a cutaway bus. So the bus builder ran a cable from the frame battery to another relay that also works with the ignition for all the rear accesories. And these are heavyduty relays too. their like 95continues ampers. Not a starter relay which can overheat and fail if used as a continues relay.
If all is hooked up right, with the engine running the aux battery should be charged by the alternator, but with the engine off the aux battery should be isolated from the chassis battery.
