I landed salaried employment. No more punching the clock for me. Yea if it works out. $60/ day and I'm only working 4 hours a day. 5 days a week and ever other weekend. And at the end of every month I'll get a bonus if the SCC stays low. Which I'm told will be another $500 on top of salary. Of course it's costing me 3 gallons of gas just to drive back and forth. Good with the bad.

I work a salary job. I like it. If I finish work early I can go home. I just have to stay on call till quitting time. My job even furnishes me a 04 E250 van that I drive home. I don't buy gas to go to work. My job worked out good for me. Its much easier work than my last job. It has good benefits & retirement. I wish you good luck with your new job.
i would defintly prefer a salary job, at least there is a chance of being able to finish early, with the clock, it doesn't matter how ealry i finish soemthing or how fast i do it, i still have to stick around to make the money.
Maybe - Maybe not. I've worked on Salary for the past 15-20 years. As a general rule the mechanics that work for me make as much if not more money for the hours they put in compared to the hours I put in. I'm in Industrial maintenance and no you don't get to go home early, but you usually do get to stay late for what ever reason. I guess the main reason I prefer it is that you don't have to put up with some of the Bull that working by the hour brings. On the other hand being on the clock usually means you're not on call and if you are, a call in brings overtime. Good and bad with both. Just what you get used to I guess. Congrats on the Salary job ORB.
My job started off at my salaried job working about 50 hrs a week It was because the service office was way behind & we had 2 dead head employees. We replaced the employees & the job goes much better now. I average 30 to 35 hrs a wk now. I do have to stay on call till the office closes so I can't do a lot when I get off early.

Congrats on going salary. When you get to this stage you really learn how to work the system and have plenty of free time on your hands (even though the boss thinks you are working. )
I work for salary also. Whatever's left over after I make payroll and pay the company bills, I get to keep. Someday I hope to save up enough for some new underwear or maybe even a Happy Meal.

Welcome to the upper class, ORB.

U need underwear to be a salaried employee... Not me..

$300 a week? Is that enough to live on? Even with $500 at the end of every month, that's only about $1700/ month. Of course, that's not too bad for only working 20 hours a week. Good luck with it.
I would hate to have to go to salary. I work 24 hour shifts. 24 on and 48 off. That works out to 2 days one week 2 days the next and every 3rd week I have 3 shifts (Sun., Wed. and Sat.) If I dont work any extra my 2 week hours are 120 one pay period 120 the next and every third pay period is 96 hours. Even on my short pay period I still get 16 hours over time. Very rarely do I have less than 120 hours though, most of the time its between 150 and 160 every 2 weeks and thats still not working more than 6-7 days over a 2 week period. I would take a big cut on OT to go to salary.
Most people that I have known that went to salary ended up finding out that the hours started getting longer, got called in more often and the bosses didn't have a problem with requiring you to show up early the next morning after you have worked 2n shift for some worthless meeting.
On the surface it doesn't look bad for what looks like a part time type of job, but the gas could get to be a problem.
I am salaried. I work 7 days on and 7days off. On my 7 days on I am on call 24/7. On my 7 days off, any jobs they call me for is optional but does count as overtime.
