Overdrive Button Question

When you disable the overdrive, does it keep the transmission from shifting past third gear or does it prevent lock up of the torque converter in 4th gear.

Overdrive is the 4th gear, turning it off will let you use the first 3 gears, which can help stop constant downshifting if you are towing or whatever.
