T-case low range
What T-case does my Ex have ?
I used my low range for the first time the other day to go up this hill on my friend property and i was not impressed. I thought low range + diesel torque + first gear would = walk right up the hill. I have walked right up the hill with my 03 ranger using low range and first gear and I never had to touch the gas. I know the Ex weighs way more but it also has way more torque. Only thing i can figure is my Rangers low range is something like 2.6:1 and the Ex must be like 2:1.

The Excursion has an NP273 transfer case. (Now called New Venture Gear) It has a 2.72:1 low range. Here's some reading about it.
