need some help
I just got a 1986 f150 4x4 does anyone know how to check the transfer case if it works the truck does not have an engine also what are the best locking hubs to replace the original ones Im using this truck as a donor truck another thing this is my first 4x4 does it have oil in the transfer case and if it does how do I replace it

What t-case do you have? Picts will help. It will be difficult to check it without putting power to it.
You can disassemble it an give it a good look-see if you have the courage or knowlege to do so.
There should be a shift lever on the side that you can move from 2wd to Neutral to 4 WD high to 4 WD drive low range. spin the input shaft by hand and see what the output shaft(s) are doing. Look for slop from the input to output shaft(s) while rotating. Listen for noises too.
Warn hubs are what I've used for many years of trouble free use.
There should be 2 drain plugs on the rear of the t-case. Well, one drain and one for filling it. Drain the fluid and see what it looks like. Replace the bottom plug and fill it up to the top plug. I'm guessing at most of this because I don't know which t-case you have.
