Has anybody had experience with the Holley ProJection fuel injection setup? I am considering it for the new 289 going into my '62. I would gladly listen to any advice.
Holley just released a new version of the old projection. Among other changes, the new one uses a progressive 4v setup whereas the old one was non-progressive (all 4v opened at the same time). I emailed tech support before and didn't a good answer about interfacing to the dist for timming control, they said I would need a different dist, but didn't say which one if any would work.
The unit allows you to use a PC to program the fuel curve and other than tech support, I've heard good things about them. I don't like the price, but they are good units. I've heard about 10% increase in MPG and some power gains CAN be had, but a well tuned carb will outperform in true power.
It's a TBI rather than a direct port injection. Direct port injection is much better and I'd think you could adapt in a newer system to yours. Isn't you engine simular to the 5.0? Theres a web site for custom tuning the IV EFI system and I've heard great things about it. I'd first check to see if you can convert over to a direct injection system first.
