I recently purchased a PIE aux and Uni-Pod adapter to install in my '04 F150 (brandmotion doesn't support the '04 F150s). To install these adaptors I need to locate a constant 12V power source and also a 12V power source that turns on and off with the car ignition.
Has anyone installed these adaptors? and if so where did you pull the power from?
I know that there must be power going to the CD player (6-disc audiophile) but I'm not sure which wire in the harness is carring the power or if it is constant or variable...
at the radio plug constant should be lt.green/purple and ignition (accessory) shouuld be lt.green/yellow (or pink/black). be sure to test them before you hook in to be sure

Awesome, thanks man.
Took a look at your gallery, I really dig the truck. I've got basically the same truck only mine doesn't have the dual tone paint job. Have you had any issues with yours? So far I've had the front brakes, rear power sliding window, and the fuse box all replaced under warranty. Luckily I bought an extended warranty on mine so by the time the thing is up I'll have most of the issues taken care of I hope.
No problem man. Yea I havent had any major issues. The only warranty work I had to get done was replace my center console lid cause the locking tab broke off and I had/have a clunk sometimes when accelerating. They replaced the driveshaft and greased things but it didnt fix it. Ford told the dealer its normal and not to try to fix it anymore. So, it doesnt happen very often and its more annoying than anything. Other than that I love the truck. And my rear slider works when it wants to, which seems to be quite a common issue.
Why you have to have the fuse box replaced?

Fired up the truck one morning and the climate control and radio immediately started flippin out; turning on and off and at different settings. I knew it was something electrical right away and drove it straight to the shop. Dealer told me it was a short in the fuse box and replaced the entire unit.
You may want to dig up the TSB for the front brake issue known on the '04s; I wasn't really having problems just a little brake noise but the TSB calls for a full replacement of the calipers and rotors - all I had to do was show em the TSB and say they were making some noise and they replaced em free of charge. That rear window has been worked on twice now and they can't seem to get it fixed, really pisses me off, shoulda just gotten the sun roof instead.

Finally got everything installed last night. Black04Lariat, you were correct about the wiring (thanks for the help again). The large lt. green/purple was constant and the smaller lt. green/yellow was variable. Also there was a large black/green wire next to the constant that was a ground. Tapped into each of em last night without too much trouble (tight space for my goofy handed self) and she fired up without any problems. Now I've got an IPOD dock coming out of the modified ashtray (had to drill through four layers of plastic with a dremel) and it stands up between the cigarette lighter and parking sensor control button. Whole thing looks pretty stock until you plug the IPOD in. The sound quality of the PIE system is definately better than FM soultions, but at $150 in adapter costs its only worth it if you really want some more tunes in the truck. I'll try to get some photos posted here in the next couple of days.
