Undercoating Question
I have all my F-1 parts painted and ready for assembly. I want to undercoat the fenders and am thinking of spraying them (rattle can) before assembly. Any pro's or con's? I am also looking for a recommendation for a rattle can undercoat that drys fast and firm and doesn't remain sticky.

I plan on using Herculiner under my running boards and fenders. I used it in my bed and like it a lot. It is much tougher than undercoating, so I expect better protection from stone dings.

I used a product recommended by my painter. It is "Dupli-Color" Truck Bed Coating.
It comes in a spray can and goes on very neat and even, I sprayed it on the bottom of the cab, the bottom of the running boards, and the insides of my fenders.
It is not as heavy duty as Herculiner would be, but goes on neater and seem to be doing the job protecting my rear fiberglass fenders.
I would do it the same the next time.
There are two products that were available and I was told to not use the "cheap one". I spent somewhere around $5 or $6 a can. I bought it at a local Autozone.

I have used a 3M product called "Proffesional Grade Rubberized Undercoating" with good results. It sets up hard in a few days and seems to stay put. I have only found it at auto paint suppliers, not the local Wal-Mart.

I used 3M Undercoating ( not Professional stuff) Part No. 051135.
Highly recommended by the Body Shop Owner that painted my truck.
I sprayed it on before putting the painted fenders on. Terrific stuff. Not sticky and provides good coverage.
