Is a padded glove box door rare, I have seen metal ones...but not padded

 

They were usually in 65 and newer vans or trucks. They would be with ones with a padded dash also. I have both a dash and glove box of my parts truck here. Plan to use in a project truck later. They are not that rare, but there are less of them than metal dashes. They tend to get cracked from people hitting them when closing the glove box door.

 

No Ford F Series pickup had a padded glove box door, either standard or optional. Not only have I never seen one (parts catalog makes no mention either), but I've purchased 7 new Ford pickups, 6 of which were top of the line Ranger, Ranger XLT, and Lariat models, from the 1960's; 70's; 80's; 90's and 2004. None had one.

 

Well the 67 I have here had the padded dash and glove box door. It is not the first one I seen like that. So they did make padded glove box doors for Econoline trucks and vans. I never saw a padded glove box on any Ford F100 or F150's.

 

My '66 Falcon has the complete padded dash set up ... there were TWO padded glove box doors offered ... one with a lock and one without ... have both in hand ...

well, i got the padded dash and glove box.......the dash has 1 crack, Is there a way to repair it....I like the look of the padded dash...but padded door looks funny

 

Yeah it does look different with the padded glove box door. It just sticks out where the dash fits the contour of the metal dash. In a way it does look better with out the padded glove box door.

 

I also got the gauge cluster and cover....going to get some aftermarket gauges and upgrade everything.......I got all 1967 stuff to convert my 1963 over to the Big 6....But I dont know what to do....I have alot of SBF stuff and only 1 300ci with fuel injection.....How much harder is a 302 than a straight 6....the reason i am asking is i have read other threads and it is about 50/50 each way

 

If you look the dog house for a 300 is bigger and has more of the back of the floor notched out as the doghouse has a hump here for the larger engine.
The motor mounting is different. The 65 and newer has a bolt on cross member for the engine where the pre 65 mounts to a bracket that is solid to the chasis.
The 300 takes a bigger rad. They are still narrow, but longer.
Changing to a 300 can be done, not impossible. Now going to a V8 is more of a project. You got to get after market motor mounts that will go on the cross members. Also you may ahve to do some cutting of the floor on the passenger side and retro fitting the doghouse to accomodate the V8. They take more work, but again not impossible.

 

Just finished a 302 swap in a 65 E100 p/u. Not really that bad. Cut the mounting pads off the 65 tube reversed and fitted to 70's v8 mounts. 2 hours of fitting and tacking in place. Then pulled mount back out to finish welding. Been dreading this but wanting to do it for 6 months. Original mount tube was for a 170ci.
