Today I tried to do the TC lock up mod. I got the correct wire under the hood, I verified this by putting the truck in gear and grounding the wire out. It killed the truck instantly. So, I then hook up the wires to the switch and nothing happend when the switch was thrown, except the lighted rocker lit up. I'm using a lighted rocker with 3 terminals on the back, 12+, Acc. and ground. I had the wires hooked up to Acc and ground and that didn't work. I then switched it to 12+ and ground and that didn't work either. Do I have to hook the wires up to the Acc. and 12+ terminals to get it to work?
Place the wires on 12+ from your power source, acc to the lockup, and then ground to ground and it should work. You ground the switch so it will light up.
I figured it out today, after having a day to think about it. Hooked the ground up to the Acc. terminal and the TC wire to the 12+ terminal, it works like a charm.
You'll notice a deff for sure .its like a manual trany,I put mine on a floor mounted dimmer switch so I can use it lke a clutch. It's a very easy mod ,you can also do some more resaerch on here there are a lot of posts on the t/c lock up.
All in all, with Guzzle's instructions in hand(A big THANKS goes to him) it took all of 10 minutes to do. I'm still debating with myself(VERY interesting) if I want to build the box to stop the flashing O/D light or not.I haven't got but 5 miles on it since doing the mod. I'm taking the truck to work tomorrow, so I'll know more then.
