Cam Position Sensor choices

Anyone know which CPS to use? There appear to be 4 choices: the original Ford black one for $190 a new Ford black one for $23, a blue one for $190 (Inernational Harvester part no.) and a Ford gray one for $23. All different part numbers and claim to be for the 2000 F250 7.3L Powerstroke. I'm confused.

Use the new gray! The Blue is SUPPOSED to be better, I know a couple of people that bought the blue and now wished they had bought the grey!

I have one of each.

Took the blue out at the advice of Diesel Innovations. Doesn't play nice with tuners.

I have a black in now and a gray as a spare.

I would use gray if I had to replace.

I have 2 blacks, and 2 greys. I am running the $23 dollar grey right now. Idle seems a little smoother than the black, but most likely my imagination. DO NOT SPEND $190 ON A FORD UNIT UNLESS MONEY DOES NOT MATTER TO YOU! Get the grey,

Gray installed. Runs without a hitch. Used it to replace a working OEM black unit, and now the black one rides in the glove box as a "verified good spare". Lots of folks in ehre have bought the new gray one and I haven't seen the first inkling of a problem with it from anyone. Given that, it doesn't make sense to spend more than required for the new low cost gray unit. Shoot, I'm even considering buying another spare one to have that I can offer to a stranded PSD owner who needs it.

I am new to this forum. I have a 01 f250 cre cab with 91,000 miles on it. The Ford dealership thinks my CPS is going out since my will start and run fine, after about 10 min. it die for a split second. If you are running down the highway it will just hiccup, but if you are idleing it will die. Where do you purchase the gray CPS and how difficult is it to install?
Thanks

Piece of cake to change. Takes longer to round up the tools than it does to change. Here are the instructions:

I bought my new one from:
http://fordparts.com/cart/?pn=F7TZ-1...&submit=Search

It is easy to install, access from underneath the front passenger side of the engine. It is located next to the belt pully on the lower side of the front of the engine. A 10 MM wrench (or small socket) and about 10 minutes. The sensor comes with a bracket. Remvoe the plug, single bolt, and pry out. You may want to put a little oil or vaseline on the new O-Ring and it will go in easy. Put the bolt back in and pulg the connector back and you are good to go.

Good Luck,
Doug

I bought mine from here.

I also bought the fuel filter to have a spare. I think it was $41 for both shipped to my door.
