Unhappy Electrical problems!!

Guys I've been bummed out, my pickup wont run! It's been down 3 solid weeks and it's me daily driver!

I just need some info to some sorces or something (free?) for a 1977 pickups electrical stuff (engine wiring diagrams, etc.)!

Something has been draining my $150 optima battery! I can't replace those very often you see....It's pulling 2.4 amps and about 12 volts when the pickup is just sitting there not running at all. One small thing is that the red stripped green wire coming from the back of the switch is getting extremely hot! It burned me hand the other day. The whole dase is out and everything is loose but I can't find anything or make any sense out of it if I dont have something to look at. So I'm just saying if you have an electrical diagram or something pertaining to the solenoid, starter, ign switch, then please share it brother, I dont have a ride!!!

The ign switch has been replaced and the solenoid has too. I'm going out here in a few minutes to figure it out again, just hollar guys if you can help!!!!

it's an 85' 302 btw....TIA!

Oh and we went one by one to see which wires were pulling with a DMM and found out that the truck wont start without that one wire that is draining it. Thanks again

There are several wiring gurus on FTE who are very knowledgeable. Someone will chime in soon.

Hey! Been working on it all day long, finally got a break to let yah know weve got some of it figured out and were gonna wait till tomorrow to see if the battery is still charged (we're gonna c if it drained at all). We've pretty much rewired everything the way it should be, we think. Is it me or does haynes manuals not include enough stuff in them?

Thanks again!
