pulled boat up the loading ramp truck was idleing and fuel was dripping down the passenger side of engine. drove home 80 miles now no fuel leak and what was on engine and tranny case pretty much dried up. any ideas would be great.
your valve on the the housing holding your filter is probably leaking. it is a common issue and there are some writeups on repairing by replacing the o rings. Good luck.
I'm with 8tsixt on the drain valve on the fuel separator. You might try opening it and then closing it again. That helped me get by until I had a chance to replace the o-rings.
Get viton over buna o-rings, they'll last a lot longer. The size is: w1/8" x inside dia. 1/4" x outside dia 1/2"
Springer Pop put up a good link to common 7.3L o-rings and such found here:
You can buy the whole valve from Ford if you want part# F81Z9A153AA, runs about $50.
Thats what I ended up doing as I was on the road when I needed it. Then I got the O-rings from a plumming parts supplier. Now when it happens again I'll just swap out the valve.
It's straight forward. You'll need a torx bit or screwdriver for the screws. I can't remember if it's a T10 or T15. I think a T10. Just drain the fuel separator then remove and replace the valve. Nothing to it.
