timeing chain cover problem

timeing chain cover problem
While striping down the block of a 1976 AMC 232 the timing chain got "destroyed"(someone forgot to remove some bolts before prying it off with a big crowbar), anyone know where to look for a replacement, or should I just find a welder and attempt to fix the old cover?
