Hey, I got the van turbo installed and now I have a few questions.
- what can I do with the red wastegate line?
I would like to get rid of it but the green line is connected to the red line too. Only option I can think of is trying to cut it off at the connected part.
- what kind of boost numbers are ya'll producing?
I had a problem with only making about 24 lbs. after switching to the 6637 air filter. The highest I have ever made was 28lbs. with a K&N. I get the same amount of boost with the van turbo but I expected a drop. Bad gauge?
The only other thing that I am going to service is the EBPS to make sure that the tube isn't clogged. I'm hoping that might help me out.
For the red and green lines, you can completely remove them both. You have to leave the electrical connector that they are running to connected or it will throw a code. Get some rubber vaccum line caps to put on the y-pipe where the green line comes out of, and you might also cap the electrical connector where the red and green lines came out. If you want to clean up the y-pipe, you can remove the mounting bracket for that whole assembly too and just zip tie the electrical connector to a bundle of wires below it.
The boost numbers should have dropped when the van turbo went on. Wait, maybe not. If your wastegate was opening on the stock turbo, it would have limited the boost it made. So, there may not be a problem at all. For reference, I see a peak of 26-27 psi with my van turbo and essentially the same mods.
