Signal light flasher

OK...this is really strage to me but hopefully somebody might know somethin bout this...a while ago my flasher started makin a buzzin sound like it was shorting out so I took it out n put a new one in. Now what happens is when ya turn the key on, it starts clicking right away just like the signal is on but its not. If I turn the signal on (both sides) n also the 4 ways they all work fine but the flasher just keeps on clickin....until ya step on the brake. WHen the brake lights come on then the flasher stops clicking unless ya have a signal light turned on and then everything seems normal. So fer the last lil while I been drivin around with no flasher thinkin that while its clickin all the time except when the brake lights are on then it might catch fire if ya know what I mean. Any input on this would be great. I have hunted around under the dash fer wires touchin but cant see anythin at all. Im guessing it might be somewhere between the brake light switch n the flasher?? I dont know n hope that one of you guys might. Thanks alot...Chris

PS. the truck is a '03 F350 6.0L diesel w/ 4 spd auto crewcab lariat 4x4
