software?

before deploying to iraq i sent my truck , a 2000 7.3/f-350/SRW/CC/4X4 in to find out why it was dieing on the road, turned out to be the CPS, i also found out they wanted to put in a new "tune" into the truck (75$) and that my EBPS was not working right (about 150$) now my wife had really gotten onto getting my truck in top shape for me when i get back. We want to know what is up with the tune, she took it to a shop and they wanted to charge the 200$ diagnose fee to tell her what we already knwo and we were told they had to because they didn't know what tune was in it, cmon guys just put in the newest stuff. Anyways, I can do the EBPS and clean the tube thanks to you all out there, but IS THE NEW TUNE THAT IMPORTANT? or since I am good with how my 7.3 runs now, just save the money.

Just save up and get an adjustable chip. That way you have a choice when you need it.

so tuning

well what i am actually looking for is if the dealer is trying to fleece me. I haven't done any serious performance mods and kinda see adding a tune to stock less than desireable unless you guys out there can help me with this? also to ask more questions does a tune from say a hand held tuner compliment or replace factory tuning

is this a dealer doing the work???...i think they meant reflash the computer. not add a tune..did they say why they wanted to add a tune?? if the truck isnt running right some times the computer gets lost and a reflash will fix it..

I think its 75$ to have dp reflash the pcm with a tune. If you went that way you could get a little more power, for the same price.
