Roller Lifters in 302
I have a 96 F-150 with a 5.0L. During the disassembly of the engine (rebuilding) we took the roller lifters out without marking which holes they came out of. Only after we did this did we learn that if you are going to reuse the lifters and cam you should mark which holes the lifters came out of so that they go back into the same holes...my question is does it really matter if they go back into the same holes? Will it not work right or cause excess wear?
I did notice that the lifters themselves have numbers on them such as 1, 2, 3,4 etc...does this indicate which hole they go into?
