transmission ?
I have a 2001 ford ranger edge with a 3.0 with an automatic.heres the question how do i find out what it is for instence(4r55e,5r55e etc...)I have read that some came with a 5 speed auto but thats usually where it stops it doesnt go on and ive been looking everywhere.so if anyone can help please do.oh and cant look in the book cause when i purchased it the truck that is it didnt have the book,and i didnt see it under neath on the tranny

IDK about the autos, but on the manual transmissions there is a label on one side of the case that identifies what type of trans it is. I would find it hard to believe the autos don't have something similar on them.

Well now that wasn't very helpful of Ford now was it. The only other way I could think of to identify what it is would be to use the VIN code to check. I know I have seen on here and on TRS VIN code keys.
