2003 Expedition 4wd question
I was changing the oil in my wifes expedition and noticed there was gear oil coming from the passenger side axle shaft and the under side of the vehicle was wet with gear oil. I checked the diff and it was low so I added about a quart and all is well. I took it by my mechanic and he said that it is stuck in 4wd. He came to this conclusion because the axle is turning when not engaged. I told him I thought that the axle always spun but the transfer case disconected the power. He then said that the vacuum lines to the front axle engage and disengage the hubs and that mine is stuck. I don't think this is the cause but I have been wrong before and its bound to happen again. By the way I did not leave my vehicle with him and I think there is just a seal thats bad inside the axle shaft. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
