i found a good set of rocker arms from crane that i want to get, my problem is that they say that i have to have screw in studs and guide plates, i dont think i have this since mt engine is a stock 77 460. how difficult is it to change over to this, is there a kit i can get to do it, and can i do it with just the valve covers off?
i am changing my manifold in a couple of weeks and i want to go with the larger 1.8 ratio rockers over the stock 1.71? rockers, since i am having trouble finding a smog friendly camshaft...any ideas tips would be great, thanks
Are you sure the 1.8 ratio is worth it? I think the stock ratio is 1.73, making 1.8 only a 4% change. What's that going to net you in lift? Maybe .020"? If you want to go to rollers and/or adjustable rockers that's one thing. But I think if you're doing it to get more lift you'd get more for your money by changing cams. Especially so since you're going to have the manifold off anyway. Good luck.
