The complete story is here... https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/607571-recent-mods-cc-pressure-gauge-ccv-and-dp-tuner.html Jody had installed the first version to do several days of road testing on some special tranny tunes, and on day #2 of testing the DP switch fell off the dash and onto the floor. When I tow down the interstate with all tires aired to 80+ psi it produces a rough ride, and I wanted to make sure nothing came loose in the future!
"These two pics Click for full size image Click for full size image show my final DP installation Fri evening. I could see Jody cringe as I liberally applied my favorite tool (duct tape) and I taped everything, including the cable to the chip, the chip to the PCM, and then the cable to the PCM, the cable to the switch, and finally the switch to the dash. As I explained to Jody, I only care about functionally not looks."
As you can see here, I use duct tape for other critical applications as well. Click for full size imageClick for full size image . At almost 65 and counting, those tape jobs will probably hold up longer than me!
Gene, that is just wrong in so many ways. I am reminded of someones signature line
" if it don't move and should WD-40 it, if it does move and shouldn't Duct tape it." with that philosopy, a can and a roll are the only two things (other than beer) we should ever need to fix our PSDs.
I just bought a '03 7.3 c.c. shortbed 4wd last month, took to dealer for exhaust leaks at turbo tubes(warranty),they did a trouble code ck and said it likely had a chip in it and that is why I only get 15mpg on hi-way commuting, where or how do I ck for this and should I remove it and try another?
Gene, lets just say, I am stunned. With how detail oriented you are, I would have never figured you for a guy who would use duct tape in such a liberal manner. I figured that your rig would be as meticulously detailed as your calculations are. I figured that there would be Q tips to clean the crevices of every orifice and that every installed piece would have been done with the attention to detail of a mathmatician. I get the practicality aspect of the duct tape, I really do, but sheesh. The asthetics leave a little to be desired. To each his/her own though. I'm not criticizing. Just observing and commenting.
Nice, very nice. Mine is still hanging just below the steering column, I haven't mounted it yet because I can't stop playing with it. Wonder what meantime to failure is? Oh well, it's a hoot!
15 and 92 dad, did you take out your TransCommand? Tell Jody it's in there? Double stacking trans codes? Just curious I put my loopback in as soon as I installed the F5 and I'm running on transmission parameters set in the F5 from Jody.
