I have a 1977 f250 that has very sensitive steering as well as a bit of road walk. I have to stay on "top" of the steering or wind up in the other lane. Can anyone give me an idea where to start looking for the problem if any. This is not a daily driver yet and i havent had time to look just need help where and what to look for.
Thanks
Bad tie rod ends/drag link. Wheel bearings. Steering box. Alignment. Bad tires.
Jack up one front tire and grab it. Wiggle it up and down, and sideways. It should have no play. If there is, take off the wheel and you should be able to see the problem while rocking the drum.
If no problem there do the same with the other front wheel.
At that age, it's likely most of those things are shot if they've not been taken care of all this time with regular greasing and so forth. Steering box could be shot no matter how good of care was taken.
