Well as for mods, I say if its your truck, go for it. The trucks that stay "original" are worth more and more everytime another gets an updated mod....just not to me. When I watch American Graffiti all of the vehicles in it would still be cool cruisin the streets today just like they were in the movie. I dont see anything wrong with a "Pud original Ford". The only thing that I totally discourage is half-assing a truck in the condition of yours. Take your time, and do it right, with good parts, and ask lots of questions. The one thing you would regret most is "I wish I would've ask the FTE guys before I made my 4-link out of exhaust pipe".
Anyway, heres a pic of almost every cool body mod you could do, just take your pick. I call this truck pornography. Jake
Hood ornaments are for people who watch figure skating, and soap operas. I cant imagine Puds truck with a chrome goose on the hood without hearing the theme song to "Sanford and Son". Very tacky at the least. These trucks have "squared" body lines and grilles and very strong stances. You defeat that manly rugged badassness (new word----tell Mr. Webster) when you zip tie a silver spraypainted "My Little Pony" to the hood. What one earth were you thinking. Is your truck pink? You should visit Henry Fords grave and apologize in person.
Chill out guys. Everyone has their own opinion of cool thats what makes car shows great to go to. Mando you going to go tell half the big rig truckers they're prissy because of a hood ornament? Take a big stick buddy; truckers argue with pipe wrenches !!!!
thanks guys, i think you might've changed my mind, it needs some paint...same color....and thats all it needs. cause i mean....it's hopefully goin to car shows, nothin better than an origional for one.
also....i dont like hood orniments, theres that yellow '79 on the front of the newest LMC magazine with an "Explorer" one. i hate it lol...
Keepin,
nothing against you at all. I just thought it was funny. In my personal opinion hood orniments are out dated. Seriously, Would you like to see a giant wing spread angel on the hood of a 73-79 truck?
Western,
Chrome plated turds were available as a dealer add on option for 50-53 Ford cars. Chevy chrome plated turds were under the hood. You know the guys who buy every chrome part available for a 350. Apparently it makes more HP for 350s.

Yep. Got a couple kids at work who figured a chrome engine would out perform a paint flaking rusty 390. They don't like to speak about the results of their challenge.
You will most likely have to find a blow through supercharger unless you want a 6-71 or 8-71 blower. I cant say Ive ever seen a manifold to bolt one up though. I have recently seen the blow throughs for 289s and 302s but havent seen one for a FE in a long time. You might have to make something up. A turbo could be easier but you would have to make that also. You also need to be aware that with a turbo or supercharger you need to run lower compression somewhere in the 8:1-8.5:1 neighborhood. Check out the FE forum. There are some extremely knowledgeable people over there. Bare in mind though a 8-71 blower with intake will cost you $3000+
You may want to upgrade the speakers. Just add your stereo, gauges, switches, CB or whatever.
Nice Truck! I wish I had an owner's manual.
I didn't think you could get them anymore.
I had gotten one a long time ago, like in 97', when I re-done my F-250 I re painted it red to match my interior, it turned out really well. I got my Cobra in the middle and some small Kenwoods in the speaker holes along with some switches. I can post up some pics later today when I get home if anyone is interested
Pud,
the GED answer for how a turbo works vs a supercharger is this. A supercharger uses the engine belt to spin a turbine that forces more air into the engine. More air + more fuel = more HP. A turbo uses the exhaust gas exiting the header to spin a turbine that forces more air into the engine. Same deal more air + more fuel = more HP. The biggest benefit of a turbo over a supercharger is parasitic loss. It takes engine effort or horsepower to turn the blower on a supercharger a turbo uses exhaust gas which doesnt take any HP away from the engine. Basically a turbo is more efficient.
