I want to hear my 302 V8. I want to do it cheap too. What is the best cheap muffler I can buy for like 30-40 bucks? I think I am going to make a single 3" that exits in front of the right rear tire, where the cab meets the bed area. It's a stock unit, 3" should be the best thing, right? The cat goes from 3" to 2.25", so should I elliminate the cat and run a straight 3" pipe, or should I run a reducer form 2.25" to 3" right after the cat? Does an 86 have to have a cat, and does it have to pass an emission test in MD?

Do you think it would be best to spend a little more and get a full kit for like 140 bucks or whatever the cheapest is? I think Summit has a dual exhaust it for like 140 bucks or soemthing. The thing is I dont really want to spend that much because the truck needs a tune up and lots of other work, but if you think it's going to be a lot better to get a kit, then I may have to.
