Better pads than OEM was the answer for my towing needs.
Titanium commerial grade pads made a big difference over OEM.

 

thats good for a start - but - the rotors themselves are a bit small for a 6000lbs vehicle...

i would probably have to go up to a 17" wheel in order to get a larger rotor and caliper on there...(which means new wheels & tires which = about 2k)
