low oil pressure

I just bought a 1994 f150, I6, 5spd, 131,000 miles. I was told the engine has roughly 75,000 miles. The oil pressure seems to be very low, the gauge says its at the very bottom of the normal range. I've been told ford gauges are unreliable, could this be the problem? If not then how big a problem is this? This is the first ford I have owned, I got it because I read how great an engine the inline 6 was. In any case any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If it is a stock gauge it is not a gauge so to speak.
It only indicates 0 or OK, it is using the oil light sender switch that only has an off & on.

check with mechanical gauge.

Go to Auto Zone get the gauge made by SUN (12.95) & you can install it in less than an hour. If you want to you can go buy pipe nipples & make a T & have both guages hooked up. I just done this to my 4.9L.
