whats my problem??

I thought first my wastegate was malfunctioning. but now after reading some of the threads on the wastegate, I think it is something else. I have a 2000 f250 psd. I recently installed a DP tuner programmer, overboost annihilator, and 4 inch turbo-back exhaust. a few days after installing everything, it started acting a little weird. at first I thought the tranny was slipping really bad on shifts. but then whatched the guages and realized that it was building boost to about 20psi then dropping off to almost zero, and causing a bunch of black smoke to come out the exhaust, then I would instinctively let off the throttle. So then I tried holding my foot into it longer to see what it would do, and after dropping off it would then start building boost again up to around 15-20psi. From the time that it would loose boost until I would let off the throttle, It would make a whooshing sound like it is releasing pressure?? So then I wired the wastegate shut and went on a long roadtrip with our 26 ft toyhauler, and it would still do the same thing but build boost up to about 25psi boost. and still make the sound of air escaping, but more of a hissing sound. And it seems to dump off at lower boost pressure now, about 10-15psi. any Ideas???? thanks

Well, most of this is not surprising. The whoosh is excess boost exiting the intake when the truck shifts and is running at lower rpms. That air has to go somewhere. Of course there are variables but it seems you need to stay in the throttle until when you can anticipate the shift and back off slighltly, but only enough for the shift.

At any rate, it shouldn't be that hard. I can stand on the throttle and it works, albiet a bit harsher. If you think you have an engine problem, pull the chip, and drive it like that and see if you have the same symptoms. If so, address those then re-install the chip. If it works fine without the chip and flounders with the chip, call Jody.

Hope your tranny isn't headed south.

Could be. Who knows? He can make 20 psi with the annihalator, he should be able to make more in my opinion unless the **** has been adjusted. We just don't know at this point.

RRat- yo ustill got a warrantee, I'd use it LOL. But seriously, welcome to FTE and I would post your question in the 6.4 forum- your truck is too new fangled for us to know here on the 7.3 spot.
