i spent a few weeks in egypt, the great pyramids were pretty cool, but the older pyramids to south in memphis and the valley of the kings in luxor were far better.
in memphis you can crawl all over inside and out of the pyramids, touch everything, cool as heck, the great pyramids are all roped off and real boring, get to go in one and all it is is a staight tunnel that goes up to a room, no writing or anything.
as far as the so called mystery involved with everything, humans love mystery and they love labeling ancient civilizations with all sorts of mysteries, in my opinion there is no mystery about it, people built it, and that is that, what is the big deal?
the great pyramids are not even all that big in person, i do not at all think that it is some "impossible" task for the egyptians to perform, especially when compared with other things like easter island and stone henge.
but hey, its entertaining to talk mysteries and "why did they do it" stuff, heck, why do people even do things today? because they want to!
