IDI Radiator Blues

Both my radiators need service or repair, lots of mineral buildup, inside, not unusual around here if PO didn't use distilled water, which only fanatics like me do. Question is about "turbulators" inside the diesel radiator? Read about it on this site, never heard of before, how does this make R&R or core replacement different than a gasser? I have been going to same radiator shop for 20 years for radiator service on private and work vehicles, always satisfied and quick, price is OK, would like to continue there,(since I trust them) but don't know what to ask or what to look for. Can someone enlighten me here, in very simple terms (since I am a very simple guy, so my wife says) Thanks for the great forum and all the input.

never hear of "turbulators". I would do the same on either gas or diesel engines for radiator repairs. Sounds like you have a good shop to go to and I would value their advice on repair or cleaning. Just take it to them and have them look at it.

Turbulators are slight protrusions in the core tubes... this causes turbulance and aids on effectively removeing heat. If you have the rad rodded then damage to the turbulators can be done.

The radiator world calls them "dimpled tubes". Makes more surface area to transfer heat.
