So I washed and waxed my F250 last week, and was surprised at how much longer it took to complete than the same job on my old ranger. Both are extended cab 4x4's. Started me wondering how much larger the full size ones are than the Rangers. Based on sheet metal area and keeping the cab configuration the same, are they 25% larger or more?
All I know is that I needed a ladder to wax both the roof and the middle of the hood! LOL
Due to the size, there is something else I noticed. On my other regular cab long bed trucks I use to stand in the bed behind the cab to change out the burnt out clearance light bulbs. Just put a towl between me and the top cab edge and do a little lean over. But with the super- or crew- cabs, i dont know how to do it unless I get 2 stepladders with a 2x10 board and set it up over the hood.
The first time I washed my crew cab, I wound up having to crawl up on the edge of the rear roof to reach the center of the cab. After that I went out and bought a mop so I can reach that area from the bed of the truck.

i usually wash the back half of the roof from the bed and then with the front half and windshield through the "V" of an open door. I do close the door before rinsing
Just find one of those full service car washes....for $19.95 they will wash the truck, vacuum it out, hand dry it, clean the glass inside and out, armour-all the dashboard and put the shiney stuff on the tires. $30 more and they will hand wax the rig.
I try to get that done once a month, more frequently in the winter.
Actually I have a great excuse. We have well water here, it leaves terrible water spots, even if you go over the rig with a chamios afterwards. Wife said stop washing the cars and truck here, take them to a car wash.
