Just more muscle?

My pitman arm is held on by a nut that appears to have some type of split top on it. Somewhat cone shaped....
Before I put a 5 foot pipe on the end of my wrench... am I missing something here or does it just need a little persuasion?

Thanks in advance.

Those are tapered fit shafts.
Most of the local National Parts Stores have special tools that you pay a deposit on and get a refund when you return them.
I got mine From Autozone.
After fighting the thing I went to the store returned with the puller and about 4 truns of the nut later the arm was off.

As far as I know that nut with the split top is a early form of self-locking nut. Today they have plastic in the thread area. At least thats what I thought it was. Kurt G. Y-blocks Rule.

Got it off today... actually just took some persuasion... (Breaker bar and a socket.)

Thanks as always for the input.
