Ok finnaly went and got my 89 F250.. it has a 351W in it and i belive a C6 tranny..... now my problem. It wont move. 4 hi 4 lo 2 wd it doenst have an affect at all on it.. but when you take the tranny from Park and put it into gear and try to put it back into park it starts grinding like hell... is this a bad transmission? oh yeah i had it in reverse and was playing with the t-case shifter and it died on me.. PLZ HELP thanks all
well i had the front hubs locked in and went from 2wd to 4 hi and low and nothing happend other than the grinding noise when you put it into park.. i dont know much about trannys or t-cases so i have no clue
I bet that your tranny output shaft is spinning when you take it out of park. Since there is nothing working on the transfer case, it just sits there spinning, until you put it in park. The grinding you hear is probably the park pawl. Dont do that too much. You might make things worse. Sounds like someone here needs to jump in that knows more about transfer cases than I do.
well i dont know squat about trannys and t-cases (only my second 4x4 first was a jeep).. is this a fairly easy fix if it is the tailshaft.. or is it a complete rebuild?? thanks to all that answered
I'm no specailist but I say drop the T/C and see if everything is in working order. spin the input and see if the rear out moves is prob first thing i would try. Shouldnt take to long to drop it. they come out pretty easy without much cussing.
