Torque Converter problems.
I had my tranny in my 2000 F-250 rebuilt last year at a great diesel shop here locally. I had all the heavy duty parts put in. I purchased an ATS converter ($1550). Everything has worked great until the other day. I went to use the truck to pull a stump out of the ground, the truck didn't have to work very hard to do it, but when I was done, it won't go forward. It acts like the tranny is slipping. Reverse works fine. I talked to the head tranny guy at my local Ford garage and he thought it was the converter that broke. Has anyone ever had this happen or heard of it?

The mechanic said that reverse has twice as mich line pressure as the forward geas, that's why it will go forward. It worked fine once after the problem, but when it shifted to 2nd gear, it had one hell of a bang, and now no go..I can't understand how the tranny can just go out that fast drive it one minute and it broke the next.

took me a week to find out the TC was gone..would always shift great but would not lock the tc..next stop and go it would lock..the next it wouldn't..thought maybe tc solenoid..after dropping the pan I found the clutches in the tc had let go...
