truck wont start

I have a 1994 f150 4x2 with a manual transmission. today when i went to start it the starter cranked for a second and then quit. I started it by crossing the solinoid with a screw driver. I also have a remote starter which still works to start it. So far i assumed it was the clutch interlock switch whcih i replaced. The key still does not work to start the truck no matter if it is in gear or not or if the clutch is in or not. The only ways i can start it is by crossing the solinoid, using the remote starter or popping the clutch. the starter sounds good cranking and the battery is new. Does anyone know what could be causing my truck to not start?

thanks.

Well Im not the brightest star in the sky, but I would venture to guess that you are not getting power from the key. If it starts fine using the redneck starting method i.e. the scrw driver. I would assume that your starter is fine. I would advise you to start from the key out checking to make sure you getting power when you turn it. If you have replaced the clutch saftey switch, and you think thats working right. but im sure someone smarter will come along and correct me and set in a better direction.

after looking for somthing else that would cuase my problem i now have 2 guesses. one would be what looks like a white ignition control box on the sterring column (not sure correct name). the other guess would be a loose wire on a spilce for the aftermarket remote starter.
any other ideas?

the ignition actuator in the column sounds like the problem.
