Exclamation Waste Gate Help

Ok, I pulled the WG actuator off the turbo to shorten the rod as per 7point3 instructions. My question is that when I pulled the acuator rod off the waste gate flapper, should it flop around with no tention to it? Did I break something? For some reason i thought there was a spring on the inside of the turbo attached to the WG flapper. Is the WG actuator the only thing that puts spring pressure on the wg flapper?

Trying to get everything butttoned up to go out to the Bloomsburg 4x4 fest. Any help is appreciatted. timmy

Hmmm...everything I've read so far about our wastegate is that the spring should be holding it closed at 14.7 psi...no mention about the actuator being needed. I was about to make an adjustment just as you are. My connecting rod is loose while the engine is off so I'm assuming it needs to be tighten?

Where did you find those adjustment instructions? All of my searching has come up with nothing other than just disconnecting the red hose which I'm not prepared to do w/o a boost gauge.

completely normal. When the actuator shaft is unhooked from the linkage, there is nothing holding it closed, it just lays there limp.
