400 dyno #s

I had my 78 f 250 4x4 on the dyno and got 218 hp and 300ft/lbs of torque at the rear wheels.i have 33 tires c6 and 4 10s.

What do you think the motor on its own is pushing for power and torque

Thanks

How do you use this HP calculator?

Is there a way I could put my numbers in to get the HP and TQ estimates of my truck? I just started my newly rebuilt 408 built with a Tim Meyer rebuild kit for the first time yesterday!!!!!!! It sounds like Bigfoot is sitting in my garage, but I do only have headers on it right now.

No it is not a custom grind cam. It is just a hyd roller comp cam. Would you be able to go to the Comp Cams website and type in 281HR as a grind number under the search box? Once that comes up, you can click on Cam Specs and it will show you all kinds of info on the cam. I couldn't find just easy simple straight forward numbers. I am somewhat new to these old gassers and Im not sure in what order the numbers go. I really really appreciate it.

Thankyou very very much

ok , so what fuel octane will you be using? Is the engine completly assembled? your dcr with that cam and 9.5:1 will be 7.56:1 which is good for 89 octane, i would personaly mile my heads to a total of 0.025" to get around 10:1 and boost my dcr to 7.9:1 which will be good for 91 octane and will get you better torque, my opinion, anyways heres the math asuming you have an open exhaust:

torque
414@2000
444@3500
hp:
378@5000

yes the engine is completely assembled and I will probably be using 89 octane. I was going to have my heads milled but I was told not to by a few people on this site because it would be too much with the higher cr pistons from tim meyer. How much more power do you think you are talking about with milled heads and 91 octane?

thank you very much hollenjoe. I really appreciate it.
since you know quite a bit on these engines, what do you suggest for a break in on the motor? everything is new except for the crank rods and block. lol

thanks

well that has been a discusion around here, the most delicate part you will should be worring about in the break in procedure are your piston rings and bearings since you have a roller cam and the break in procedure should be less delicate than iwith a flat tappet, anyways what ive always done is simply to change the oil a week after the engine first ran. Pros around here recomend using an oil with zddp aditive and 20w40 , whcich is only available with in some diesel oils, I found one in a napa store and bought 2 galons, dont really remember the brand, ive also heard Tim`s is selling an oil with this aditive....

your camshaft shouldve brought breaking in instruccions, for a hyd flat tapped i ran the engine for 20 min on 2000-2200 rpm then went to 2500 for about 5 mins, rollers should be fine using this procedure also, but read your instuctions... more opinions-advices?
